Centering Prayer is a form of contemplative prayer based on the words of Jesus "𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲, 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦, 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮." (𝐌𝐓 𝟔:𝟔) We may think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words, but by using centering prayer and contemplative prayer - we are still and quiet. We clear our mind of any random thoughts. We focus on a sacred word. You can choose a sacred word that is meaningful to you. The sacred word is a gesture of consent of your spiritual will to God's presence in your inmost being. If you can't think of a sacred word - some examples are: Jesus, Hope, Joy, Peace, and Blessings. You can use any word or phrase that will help you align your mind's focus on God. The first 20 minutes of Centering Prayer we focus on quiet prayer. Focusing our attention to God and God alone. Being quiet and still in his presence, in the peaceful place of the prayer chapel here at Chapel on the Hill. The Holy Spirit is among us and within us. You will feel his presence here. The remaining time we will either read a scripture or from the spiritual book called 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨. Followed by anyone that wants to share prayer and closing prayer. If you are seeking the presence of God in your life, please join us on Wednesday's at 10:00AM in the Prayer Chapel at Chapel on the Hill - enter from the side door. "𝐁𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐆𝐨𝐝."
