Lutheran camp augustana

Chapel on the Hill was founded in 1980, beginning its ministry on the site that had, for more than 50 years, been home to the Lutheran Camp Augustana.  Seven charter members joined together to incorporate as a non-denominational community church and to call Pastor Phil Barnhart and his wife, Sharon, to lead them. The Barnharts’ ministry spanned 22 years, ending with their retirement in 2002. Pastor Bob Bardin and his wife, Sally, were called to lead the Chapel for 14 years, until May, 2016 when they moved back home to North Carolina. On May 22, 2016, Sean Walker was ordained as Chapel's Pastor and his wife, Colleen, was named Director of Christian Arts.

dEAN & LOIS GRIFFITH

Dean and Lois Griffith, the Chapel’s principal founders and benefactors, both remained in active membership, until Dean's passing March 8, 2016.

Lois continues in active membership.  Over the years since 1980, many men, women, and young people have joined together in the Chapel family to love God, each other, and the world Christ died to save.   Some of them surround us today in the “great cloud of witnesses” in the Church Triumphant.

We honor the ministry

of those who have come before us

by taking it up as our own.

We invite you to join us as we believe, belong, and serve together,

“looking to Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.”
